Cherry Shrimp, or Neocaridina, are a small freshwater shrimp known for their bright red coloration, and their ability to readily breed in aquariums.
Care
Neocaridina are small freshwater shrimp that grow to a maximum size of 1.5 inches, and live up to 1.5 years. This peaceful and easy to care for species prefers soft, acidic, and most importantly clean water, and is very sensitive so sudden changes in water parameters. It's best to supply them with dense plant covering, and plenty of driftwood and caves to hide in when feeling threatened. Cherry Shrimp and other Neocaridina stay small, and have few natural defenses, so it's advisable to keep them with small and peaceful nano fish. Different colors of Neocaridina can safely be kept together to form a beautiful "Skittles tank," though it's important to note that they'll readily cross-breed, with successive generations tending to return to their wild drab brown and gray forms.
Diet
Neocaridina shrimp are omnivores, and will readily consume algae, food scraps from fish feeding, or specially formulated shrimp pellets.
