The Hygger Internal Filter is a 2-stage filtration system designed for small fish tanks, providing both mechanical and biological filtration to maintain clear water and a healthy environment. The fine sponge captures fish waste and debris, while bio balls offer ample surface area for beneficial bacteria colonies. The filter also aerates the water, promoting oxygenation, and creates gentle water movement ideal for slow-flow-loving fish such as bettas and guppy fry. Maintenance is simple: the sponge can be replaced with any brand (cut to size), bio balls should be cleaned every two months, and partial replacement of bio balls is recommended every six months. The filter is air pump driven (requires at least a 2W air pump and airline, sold separately), and the plastic chamber provides easy access for media maintenance.
