Panda Cories are a charming and active little bottom feeder native to the Ucayali river system in Peru. They're notable for their distinct patterning, with a light gray base color, black dorsal fins, black vertical stripe before the tailfin, and a black mask over the eyes like its namesake, the giant panda.

Care

Panda Cories are a smaller species of corydora, growing to a size of 2", and can be kept in tanks as small as 10 gallons. They're a gregarious species, and prefer to be kept in groups of 5 or more. Cories are a bottom dwelling fish, and require a soft sandy substrate, as rough substrate or gravel can damage their sensitive barbels and cause infection. Panda Cories make a great tankmates with dwarf shrimp like Cherry and Crystal shrimp, and generally won't eat baby shrimp unless underfed.

Diet

Panda Cories are omnivorous, and will readily accept most prepared foods. Care should be taken to ensure enough food makes it to the substrate for these bottom dwelling fish to feed on.
