Introducing the Blonde Naso Tang (Naso elegans): Elegance and Vibrance for Your Marine Aquarium

Meet the Blonde Naso Tang (Naso elegans), a captivating fish celebrated for its exquisite appearance and tranquil demeanor. Hailing from the Indo-Pacific, these splendid tangs bring grace and vibrancy to your marine sanctuary.

Key Features:

1. Captivating Blonde Elegance: The Blonde Naso Tang displays a light to dark gray body accentuated by vibrant yellow and gold highlights on the fins, creating an eye-catching and elegant appearance. Mature males can be differentiated by their darker gray body color and long streamers coming from the tail fins.

2. Recommended Tank Size: For these majestic creatures to thrive and exhibit their unhurried movements, a tank size of at least 180 gallons (681 liters) is recommended. This provides ample space for their comfort and well-being.

3. Reef-Safe and Semi-Aggressive: Blonde Naso Tangs are considered reef-safe, making them an ideal choice for reef aquariums. They coexist harmoniously with corals and other invertebrates. However, they may be aggressive with other new tangs or similarly shaped fish.

4. Intermediate Care Level: Well-suited for aquarists with intermediate experience in marine fishkeeping, the Blonde Naso Tang requires proper tank conditions and care to exhibit its tranquil nature.

5. Moderate Size and Majestic Presence: Typically growing to lengths of 12-18 inches (30.5-45.7 cm), these tangs command a majestic and graceful presence within various marine setups.

Care Instructions:

  • Tank Environment: Maintain a spacious marine aquarium with hiding spots, live rock for shelter, and stable water parameters. Keep water temperature between 72-78°F (22-26°C) and a salinity level of 1.023-1.025.

  • Feeding: Blonde Naso Tangs are herbivorous and thrive on a diet rich in marine algae and seaweed, supplemented with marine flakes or pellets to meet their nutritional needs.

  • Compatibility: These tangs are generally peaceful and can coexist with various marine fish, making them a versatile addition to your aquarium community. However, they may be aggressive with other tangs or similarly shaped fish.
