Koi Angelfish are a beautiful variety of Pterophyllum scalare angelfish that display unique white, black, yellow, and orange patterning similar to the popular koi kept in ponds.
Care
Pterophyllum scalare angelfish grow to a maximum size of 6 inches, though, due to their mostly sedentary nature, they may be kept in surprisingly small tanks of 30 gallons or more. Angels are generally peaceful, though they shouldn't be kept with small fish that can fit in their mouths like Neon Tetras, and they are known to become quite territorial and aggressive during breeding. They thrive in heavily planted tanks with softer water and lower pH, though they're generally very adaptable. Immature fish are very difficult to sex, so it's recommended to purchase small groups of juveniles and wait for pairs to form, then remove the rest.
Diet
Pterophyllum scalare angelfish are omnivorous, and will readily accept prepared flake or pellet foods as well as live or frozen offerings.
